  • Constant breathing hyper-awareness → being fully present during your day

How it works

Why chasing a deep breath keeps the cycle going

When air hunger takes over, the instinct is to chase a bigger breath, a yawn, a sigh, anything that might finally feel like enough. And for a few seconds, it usually does. That’s short-term relief, and it’s completely understandable. The trouble is, the more you chase that deep breath, the more the urge to yawn or gasp for air tends to grow.

That’s because you get caught in a cycle of over-breathing: fast, big breaths through the upper chest. Over-breathing can lower your CO₂, and that drop is often exactly why deep breathing exercises can leave you feeling worse, like you still can’t get enough air.

Long-term relief comes from somewhere different: retraining the breathing pattern that’s triggering the air hunger in the first place. In this course, I’ll show you exactly why you’re stuck chasing that deep breath, and how to change it. You’ll learn to switch from upper chest breathing to slow-diaphragmatic breathing, and better posture. When you use the right breathing muscles and restore optimal CO₂ levels, your breathing starts to feel natural again, and calmer in your body. With just a few minutes a day, you’ll start to notice a real shift, in how your breathing feels, and how automatic it becomes.

Why breathing retraining works

This isn’t breathwork. It’s retraining your breathing pattern, improving how you breathe for the 20,000 breaths you take every day.

Many breathwork practices teach you to breathe bigger and faster. But when you’re already struggling with air hunger, this can lead to more overbreathing, and make you chase that “satisfying” breath even more. This is why breathwork or box breathing exercises can leave you feeling worse.

Breathing retraining is different. It helps you breathe properly as a daily habit by retraining your breathing pattern, and restoring slow, diaphragmatic breathing. This helps your breathing feel more natural and automatic, so you no longer feel the need to keep taking deep breaths, or yawning.

That’s what this course is designed to help you achieve: not another generic breathing exercise that doesn’t address the root, but a healthier breathing pattern that becomes your new default.

Stop chasing deep breathsand start breathing with ease again.

You’re always aware of your own breathing, even when you wish you weren’t

✓

Yawning or sighing brings a few seconds of relief, then the air hunger creeps back

This course is not for you if…

You have symptoms you haven’t discussed with your doctor yet

✕

You have a cardiac or pulmonary condition, e.g. COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, or heart disease (if you have asthma, this course is suitable for you)

About Abby

Why me?

I’m Abby Stewart, Senior Respiratory Physiotherapist, PhD Candidate researching breathing pattern disorder, and founder of The Breathing Physio.

How I got here: At 21, I experienced debilitating air hunger post-COVID, even though every medical test came back normal. I spent months chasing that one satisfying breath, yawning constantly, just trying to feel like I’d gotten enough air. By 22, I realised what was actually going on: I wasn’t breathing properly. I was diagnosed with a breathing pattern disorder and started breathing retraining to relearn how to breathe. That experience is what led me to become a respiratory physiotherapist, a PhD candidate, and help thousands of people breathe with ease since.

If you’re here wondering whether anyone truly understands what it’s like to chase that “good” breath… I do. Your air hunger is real, and you don’t have to live like this forever.

I’ve brought together everything I use with clients in clinic, and everything that helped me overcome my own air hunger, into one step-by-step method. The Breathe With Ease Course is the first time I’ve put all of it in one place, and I’m so glad you’re here for it.

The investment

What this is actually saving you

Many people spend thousands of dollars, and months or even years, moving between GPs, cardiologists, ENTs and specialists trying to find out why they can’t get a breath that feels like enough, often being told their results are normal and sent back to square one.

The Breathe With Ease Course brings my complete breathing retraining method, the same approach I use in clinic, into one course you can access for life, across 4 step-by-step modules, at a fraction of what all your previous appointments and tests added up to with ‘normal test results’ and no clear plan to get better.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is “lifetime access”?+
You keep the course for life! Work through it at your own pace, and come back to any lesson whenever you need a breathing reset.
Is this breathwork or box breathing?+
No. This is breathing retraining, a science-backed approach to retraining dysfunctional breathing patterns. It’s about learning to breathe more efficiently and naturally, so proper breathing becomes automatic again and a lasting habit.
How much time do I need each day?+
You only need 10 to 15 minutes, and the 21-day plan tells you exactly what to focus on each day. Most people fit their practice into a couple of sessions across the day, but I also give you options for 5-minute resets for when life gets busy.
How long does it take to retrain your breathing?+
You’ll notice improvements within your first few days, things like improved diaphragmatic breathing and a reduced urge to yawn or take big breaths. You’ll then start to notice improved breathing in upright positions like sitting, and better breath control while walking. Your confidence improves with exercise too, and within those first two weeks you’ll start feeling more in control of your breath, and calmer overall. From there, breathing retraining typically takes around 6 weeks of daily practice, with full habit transformation taking closer to 3 months for lasting results. It depends on how long you’ve had the dysfunctional breathing habits, many people have had these inefficient patterns for years, so it can take a few months to build proper breathing habits that stick. The course guides you through this process step-by-step, so you’ll always be clear on how to keep progressing.
Do I need any equipment?+
No equipment needed. Just you, a few quiet minutes, and somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down.
I’ve tried everything already. Why would this be different?+
Most things people try for air hunger e.g deep breathing, breathwork, box breathing, only make air hunger worse. Chasing deep breaths only brings a few seconds of relief, but they don’t improve the dysfunctional breathing pattern that keeps bringing the air hunger back. This course was built specifically to retrain dysfunctional breathing patterns, using the same method I’ve used with thousands to help them regain calm, confidence and control in their breathing again.
I have POTS, breathing pattern disorder, hypermobility, asthma or anxiety. Is this suitable for me?+
Yes. Many people start breathing retraining alongside their wider rehabilitation plan. This course helps you learn proper breathing technique, which can support symptom control, optimal breathing habits, and nervous system regulation. This course is a complement to the care you’re already receiving, not a replacement for it, so please keep working with your healthcare professional team alongside it.
Do I need to go through the modules in order?+
The course is built to work through in order, since each module lays the groundwork for the next. But once you’ve completed the full course, I’d recommend revisiting specific lessons within a module whenever you need a reset.
What if life gets busy and I fall behind?+
I’ve created this course specifically for busy people. Because it’s lifetime access and self-guided, you can work through it at your own pace. I always encourage people not to rush through the content, you tend to get the best results when you take your time. Each lesson also comes with 5, 10, and 15-minute daily practice options, so you’ll always have something that fits your day, whether you’ve got a few minutes or a bit longer.
Are refunds available?+
No refunds are available, as the Breathe With Ease Course is a digital product. All sales are final, and once you receive access, your purchase can’t be cancelled or refunded. This doesn’t affect any rights or refunds required by applicable law.

If something goes wrong with your access, email abby@breathingphysio.com and I’ll sort it out for you.
